Antique Sterling Silver from Birmingham, England Cigarette Case 1924 #16

This is an antique solid sterling silver cigarette case that was made by S & Bm (Smith and Bartlam) in Birmingham, England in 1924. It is double and holds cigarettes on both sides. It is curved to fit into a hip pocket. It weighs 92 grams or 3.25 OZ. Size 3.2 x 3”. It has gold overlay strip banding to front and back. The internal gilding is in excellent condition. The cigarette case has both original elastic bands. It is hallmarked to the lid with S&Bm, anchor, lion (sterling silver assay mark), and Z showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1924. The base is also hallmarked with lion and Z. Inside inscription reads “FROM MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH AND HIS FRIENDS ON THE KOLAR GOLD FIELD, APRIL-OCTOBER 1926” Great condition for its age; great for any collection.
