This is a Vintage Rare Heavy Kusa Cast-Iron statue of Hodja Nasreddin with his Donkey. Nasreddin Hodja (1208–1285) is a character in the folklore of the Muslim world from the Balkans to China, and a hero of humorous short stories. This statue was cast out of Dutch soot iron using precision technique. It was made in the 1980s at the Iron Works Plant located in small city of Kusa in Chelyabinsk Region in USSR. Size: 6L x 4.5W x 6.25H''; weight 4.9lb. Kusa cast-iron products were produced in Kusa (Southern Ural), from the end of XVIII century. Kusa castings are characterized by skilled craftsmanship visible in exceptional clarity and smoothness of the metal surface. High-quality iron was smelted on a wood fire and cast in consistently fine sand. The statue is in excellent vintage condition.
