This is an antique solid sterling silver cigarette case that was made by silversmith J.R. in Birmingham, England in 1925. It is double and holds cigarettes on both sides. It is curved to fit into a hip pocket. It weighs 89.6 grams or 3.1 OZ. Size 2.7 x 3.4â€. I has a foliage engraved finish to front and back. The internal gilding is in very good condition. The cigarette case has both original elastic bands; each of them has gold plated connection “Regal†hooks on the both ends. It is hallmarked to the lid with J.R., anchor, lion (sterling silver assay mark), and A showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1925. The base is also hallmarked with lion and A.
