The beautiful 3-dimensional artwork table medal was issued in Leningrad, USSR in 1975. The medal shows Soviet Nuclear icebreaker named “Arktika”. Arktika (Russian: А́рктика,literally: Arctic) is a retired nuclear-powered icebreaker of the Soviet (now Russian) Arktika class. In service from 1975 to 2008, she was the first surface ship to reach the North Pole, a feat achieved on August 17, 1977, during an expedition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the October Revolution. The back of the medal has writing “Baltic Shipyard named after Ordzhonikidze.” Baltic Shipyard (Baltiysky Zavod) (Russian: Балтийский завод имени С. Орджоникидзе) is one of the oldest shipyards in Russia and is part of United Shipbuilding Corporation today. It is located in Saint Petersburg. It is made out of heavy bronze, 82 grams, diameter 58 mm, thickness 3 mm. You buy what you see on the pictures.
