This is antique end of XIX Century Russian icon of St. Nicholas Miracle Worker. The image of Saint Nicholas is very popular in Russian iconography. This icon was hand painted on thick 1 inch wooden board, circa 1890. The icon is in very good antique condition (see pictures). The icon was a part of iconostasis; it has holes from old nails around the edges of the icon. The writing in Old Russian Language on the top of the icon “St. Nicholas Miracle Worker”. In the upper corners of the icon images of Jesus and Virgin Mary are painted. It is very intricate and good quality artwork. Size of the icon is 9.25 x 7.75''. As such he is Russia's most beloved the most venerated saint; his icon often appearing on triptychs with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
