This is antique beginning of XX Century Russian icon of Intercession. The image of Intercession is very often used in Russian iconography. The feast of the Intercession was established in Russia during the reign of the prince Andrei Bogolubsky. This icon was hand painted on wooden board, circa 1910. The icon is in very good antique condition (see pictures). The icon was a part of iconostasis; it has holes and old nails around the edges of the icon. The writing in Old Russian Language on the icon “Intercession of Mother of God” and abbreviations for Virgin Mary. It is very nice artwork. Size of the icon is 9.25 x 12''. The virgin is holding the veil over the worshipers.
