This is antique end of XIX Century Russian icon of St. Nicholas Miracle Worker. The image of Saint Nicholas is very popular in Russian iconography. This icon was hand painted on thick 3/4 inch wooden board, circa 1890. The icon has 3D brass cover/oklad. The icon is in very good antique condition (see pictures); a couple of nails are missing. The writing in Old Russian Language on the bottom of the icon “St. Nicholas Miracle Worker”. In the upper corners of the icon images of Jesus and Virgin Mary are painted under the cover. Size of the icon is 10.5 x 8.5''. If you need more details or pictures please contact us. Saint Nicholas is the Orthodox tradition's Wonder or Miracle Worker. As such he is Russia's most beloved the most venerated saint; his icon often appearing on triptychs with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Numerous Russian cathedrals, monasteries, and churches have been dedicated to St. Nicholas.
