This is an extremely rare original piece, removed from the Soviet ship. This USSR emblem was made in Soviet Union between 1940 and 1956 during Stalin's terror era. It is 20'' in diameter and from 0.5 to 1'' thick and it is 60 lb. of solid brass. Sixteen twists of ribbon on the Emblem represent 16 Soviet republics. On each twist it is written on national language of each republic ''Workers of the world unite''. USSR had 16 Republics for the short time only between 1940 and 1956. After 1956 USSR had 15 Republics. It makes this item extremely rare. Paint on the Emblem has been chipped for many years of service in ocean.
